#3 sized Stanley Defiance Smoothing Plane to Restore. Defiance line ran from 1940's to late 1950's, it replaced the 4 Square line and was replaced by the Handyman Line. This plane has a casted frog wit NO Lateral adjuster, you adjust it like the old wooden planes. The front knob is cracked, but held up fine when taking apart to clean. Defiance was the everyday homeowner line of tools, so they take a little more work to get perfection out of, but I have fixed up a few in the past and they work just fine once they are lined out, I think anyway. I have cleaned it to check for damage, applied boiled linseed oil and shellac to the tote and handle just for protection. You will need to lap/flatten the sole, match the chip breaker to the iron and sharpen the iron. Rex and many others have videos showing how to do this, or just ask me and I'll give a rundown how I do it. I was sharpening irons, flattening the soles and mating the chip breaker and getting them shop ready, but the cold weather has really been affecting my arthritis, so I am not able to do much restoration right now. But I need to clear out some inventory to make room so I can do some remodeling in my basement and shop area soon.
