Up for sale is a vintage W. Butcher tapered paring chisel, a hard-to-find pattern made in Sheffield, England in the mid to late 1800s. This style was used for fine joinery and detail work, with a long, tapered blade that can reach into tight spots where standard chisels can’t. The blade carries the W. BUTCHER stamp with the classic cross mark, along with additional touchmarks on the reverse. The blade measures roughly 1/8" at the shoulder, thinning down to a fine point. Total length including handle is shown in the photos. Handle is original period hardwood with a brass ferrule. It does have an age crack, but it’s tight and still solid. Blade has honest patina and a clean, straight profile. These small specialty Butcher chisels don’t show up often, especially with legible marks. Features: Maker: W. Butcher, Sheffield Type: Tapered paring / detailing chisel Blade width: approx. 3⁄16" Original hardwood handle with brass ferrule Rare specialty pattern, great for collectors or users Condition: Used, with patina, light wear, and an age crack in the handle. Blade is straight and solid. Please review all photos. Shipping: Ships fast and well-packed and protected.
