Up for sale is a vintage Peck, Stow & Wilcox Co. (PS&W) timber framing slick in very solid condition. This is the No. 1 EX pattern, which was PS&W’s extra-quality line. These were made in Southington, Connecticut in the late 1800s to early 1900s, well before the company switched to the PEXTO brand. Blade width: 1 5/8 inches Length without handle: 12 inches Markings: “P S & W Co”, “No 1”, and “EX” (faint but readable under good light) Condition: Blade is straight, clean, and free of cracks. Bevel is solid with plenty of life left. Normal age patina on the steel. Handle: Not included. Ready for a new, proper long slick handle. Use: Ideal for timber framing, log building, restoration work, or for collectors of early American edge tools. This is a genuine pre-PEXTO PS&W slick, which puts it roughly 1890–1915 in age. These early slicks are known for excellent steel and take a very sharp edge.
