Details
This lovely covered plate, with a rim for securely setting the dome lid, was most probably used as a butter dish for formal tea or dinners. Butter was pressed into forms or mould, often floral or geometric, and then presented in this covered container. This piece does have green tint response to a black light in a dark room, but it is very light green compared to uranium glass.
It is beautifully purposed also for delicate baked goods - think a selection of macarons, or a pavlova or layered torte. It is very simply designed, and in fine condition with no chips or cracks. It measures 8” to top of lid, 5.75” diameter.
Please keep in mind that vintage items are not new items. They are gently used and may show some signs of wear due to being loved and utilized over the years. Any major flaws or defects will always be noted in the description and documented in photos of the item.
