Details
Merry Little Playmates is from 1895. Many stories and poems were done by publisher's in house writers or contract writers and no name is shown. Some are named like Clara Bates, and Laurie Loring who were well known children's authors at that time.
The majority of the illustrations are also not attributed to but one is Palmer Cox, a very well illustrator at the time who came up with the series The Brownies. These were very popular series of drawings at the time into the early 1900s. When Kodak came out with it's first mass produced camera in 1900 they called it The Brownie.
This book was designed to entertain children and give a subtle moral and Christian undertone.
Since from 1895 there are some condition issues. The binding is loose, the cover is worn on edges, corners are worn off , there are pencil scribbles, page staining in spots. But for 130 years of who knows where this book has traveled, this will still display and read well.
