For sale is a vintage E.A. Berg chisel made in Sweden, stamped “STOCKHOLM SWEDEN” with the early Berg shark logo faintly visible above the lettering. This is an early-production Berg slick with laminated Swedish steel and the classic sweeping Berg bolster.
The tool has no handle. It is a tang-style chisel, and the tang shows some wear and light mushrooming on the end from being struck over the years. The blade itself measures about 8.5 inches long and roughly 2 inches wide. The steel is straight and solid with no cracks or breaks.
These early Berg slicks are prized for timber framing and fine joinery work, and they’re getting harder to find in original condition.
