Stanley Bailey No 4 1/2 smoothing plane. Iron is 2 3/8" wide. Heavier and wider than a No 4. This is a type 18 1946-1947 so it has a hardwood knob and tote which I touched up the finish on. Iron is sharp and sole was flattened but it did not need much. Ready to make shavings. The lever cap is a type 16 but the only difference between it and the type 18 is the casting mark (patent no.) on the back side. The iron has a "444" stamp which means its from Q4 1944. Iron is close to new length.
See the pictures. Japanning is extremely good on only a few small missing spots here and there. Very good condition overall. Most of the nickel is gone off the lever cap.

Long time hobby woodworker. Most of that has been as a power tool user but in the last several years I've taken up hand tools and love it. Also found that I really like putting old iron back into service.
