WOW, never thought I would run across this! I should keep it, but I just have to many planes and other tools. Why am I excited? When was the last time you saw anything in an original S&H Green Stamp Box? 1st, this is a Stanley Handyman H1204 (#4 size) bench plane that I think it new, or lightly used. Handyman was the home owner too line from about 1957-mid 70's. Now, if you do not know what S&H Green Stamp Store was, check Wikipedia. But in short is was a form of rewards for buying at different business in the Midwest and southern USA until the early 1980's. You bought items and you got so many green stamps per $1.00 spent. You in turn put the stamps in a booklet to collect enough to use at the official S&H store. You could not by anything in the store expect with the Green Stamps, you did have to pay a little, but I think that was just the sales tax. I do not remember now, I was a kid still, but do remember going into the stores with my mother and grandmother here in KY.
I had forgot about the green stamps until I found this plane. Look at the price on the box $5.00!! This was bought in July 7 1970! Man this brings back memory's of my child hood..
I have not done anything to this plane, it is how I got it. I bought a large collection of planes at once and this is part of the collection. I will have about 30 more to list over the next few weeks.
