Stanley Handyman H1203 Smoothing Plane Same size as a Bailey #3 This one has Black tote and knob, I think it's maybe late 50's early 60's and the later ones had blue tote and knobs.
I have not found any good dating references for the Handyman tool line, but they did change over time. Handyman tool line was marketed to the home owner and replaced the Defiance line in the the mid 1950's and where produced up to the early 70's. I know a lot of people poo-poo on the Defiance and Handyman lines, but I have tuned them up to work just fine and make nice thin shavings with the same amount of work as some Baileys.
This comes from a collection of planes and other woodworking tools I bought. I was buying, restoring and reselling hand woodworking tools
I also use and sorta collect woodworking hand tools, but my health has been getting worse and I figure that I need to thin down my tools to just what I actually use. That way it's easier on my wife when I am gone, she does not have so much stuff to deal with.

Selling since November 2024
Retired Archaeologist now working for city of Lexington Engineering Dept. Have been a carpenter and woodworking for some time, just switched over to hand tools several years ago. But now my health has changed, I have no kids and if Gods will, will be retiring and moving to Philippines in the next 5 Years. So I am slowly selling off tools (and other things) that I know I will not be hauling across the world. When the time comes, I may sell off more, but for now all my extras or things I bought to resale need to go....Heck I may just sell it all and not touch a tool again depending on my health in 5 years....
