Stanley Defiance 1204 Hand Plane Smooth Sole

Up for sale is a nice Defiance hand plane made by Stanley. The plane is 9 1/2" long so I believe this one is either a 1204 or a 1244. The plane is in great shape with no damage anywhere. These were a cheaper model made for hardware stores in the 30's to 50's. This one has the butterfly end on the lateral adj. lever. Most of the ones I've seen have the end pinched where the side are parrell . The mouth of the plane looks very wide and usually seen on scrub planes. Don't know if someone filed it like that or not. The iron has not had the corners round off like you would see on a scrub plane.

With over 76 years of life experience and a passion for woodworking, I’ve spent decades collecting, restoring, and working with antique hand tools, mostly hand planes . I'm an Army Vet. (1967-1969) and married with 2 children. I'm also a avid gardener. I have a degree in Forestry from S.I.U. although I only worked in the industry for 6 weeks. I'm retired from the coal mines and also the Post Office. I live in Southern Illinois near Carbondale. I love to hunt and fish. I live on 30 with a 9 acre strip mine lake in front of the house. My work shop includes a Delta Unisaw , a Grizzley 17" band saw and a DeWalt 735 planer. I have many hand planes including a very nice Stanley #2 type 7
