Stanley #78 Rebate / Rabbet Plane in Box

This is a Stanley 78 rebate plane, used, in box. It has both the fence and depth stop. It's in great shape, all of the japanning is present and is free of rust and grime.

It works well, I've been using it recently and was happy with it, but recently got a Record 778 and I don't need two planes to do the same thing. Currently the blade on this one is cambered for use as a scrub, if you want a straight blade you can grind it back to straight or I can swap it out with another 78 blade I have in another plane that is in great shape, sharp, and ready to use, up to you.

For those shopping for your first rabbet plane, you'll see a lot of these #78s for $20-$30, but those are typically missing their fence, depth stop, or both. Since those pieces are often missing on vintage models, buying replacement parts will cost you as much or more than the plane itself. So save yourself the hassle and get it all in one place. :)
