Up for sale is an Outstanding Stanley #5 Type 14 Hand Plane. The plane has a full sticker on one side and the tote and knob are in super shape with no cracks or chips or major marks. The Japanning was a little spotty so I removed it and re-Japanned it using Stanley's original factory recipe. I have also flattened the sole and the sides. I lapped the chip breaker and lever cap so they fit tight to the iron. I have sharpened the iron going through the grits up to 8000 and it is razor sharp. This is about as nice as they come for a almost 100 year old plane. It's ready to go the work in your shop or to be displayed.

With over 76 years of life experience and a passion for woodworking, I’ve spent decades collecting, restoring, and working with antique hand tools, mostly hand planes . I'm an Army Vet. (1967-1969) and married with 2 children. I'm also a avid gardener. I have a degree in Forestry from S.I.U. although I only worked in the industry for 6 weeks. I'm retired from the coal mines and also the Post Office. I live in Southern Illinois near Carbondale. I love to hunt and fish. I live on 30 with a 9 acre strip mine lake in front of the house. My work shop includes a Delta Unisaw , a Grizzley 17" band saw and a DeWalt 735 planer. I have many hand planes including a very nice Stanley #2 type 7
