Up for sale is a nice Stanley #5 type 13 hand plane. Over all nice condition. I re-Japanned the bed using Stanley's original factory recipe and baked it 5 times and it looks great. I have flattened the sole and sharpened the blade going through the grits up to 8,000. This plane is ready to go to work. 1 patent date and no raised ring under the knob makes it a type 13. The tote has a nicely repair crack and it is tight. The front knob is crack free. There is some pitting on the right cheek and the heel of the sole. Neither will hurt the performance of the plane. With over 76 years of life experience and a passion for woodworking, I’ve spent decades collecting, restoring, and working with antique hand tools, mostly hand planes . I'm an Army Vet. (1967-1969) and married with 2 children. I'm also a avid gardener. I have a degree in Forestry from S.I.U. although I only worked in the industry for 6 weeks. I'm retired from the coal mines and also the Post Office. I live in Southern Illinois near Carbondale. I love to hunt and fish. I live on 30 with a 9 acre strip mine lake in front of the house. My work shop includes a Delta Unisaw , a Grizzley 17" band saw and a DeWalt 735 planer. I have many hand planes including a very nice Stanley #2 type 7
