Up for sale is a nice Stanley #5 type 7 hand plane. This one has a smooth sole and perfect mouth. The Japanning was very spotty so I stripped it off and re-Japanned it using Stanley's original factory recipe and baked it 5 times. I think it looks great. The plane has the Q logo iron and has a lot of blade left. It has the S foundry mark on the bed, the lever cap, and the back of the frog. I sharpened the iron going through the grits up to 8000 and it is razor sharp. I have flattened sole. The rosewood tote and knob show their original patina. The tote has a nicely repaired crack and is tight. The knob also has a repaired crack, but is not noticeable.
