Stanley No 5 jack plane. Clean, sharpened and the bottom flattened - it's ready to work.
It's a type 17 from 1942 based on the "442" - Q4 1942 - stamp on the iron. Type 17's vary in features given the way Stanley would use up stocks of older parts and WWII material constraints. This one has the frog adjustment screw. The knob and tote are hardwood not rosewood and their screws are steel instead of the brass barrel nuts. The depth adjuster is gutta percha not brass.
See the pictures. This plane is overall excellent condition. Japanning is 90+% Tote and knob have no cracks or repairs. Iron is very close to full length. There is a chip in the lever cap. I redid the brown lacquer on the knob and tote.
Happy to answer questions.

Long time hobby woodworker. Most of that has been as a power tool user but in the last several years I've taken up hand tools and love it. Also found that I really like putting old iron back into service.
