Up for sale is a super nice old Stanley #4 type 7. This plane has the smooth sole. It has the Q logo on the iron and I have sharpened it going through the grits up to 8000. The Japanning was very spotty so I stripped it off and re-Japanned it using Stanley's factory recipe and baked it on low heat 5 times to set the Japanning. This plane the S fountry mark on the bed . The frog is a left over type six frog with the Bailey info inside the brass adj. nut and it has right handed threads. This was typical for Stanley to use up older model parts on newer models. It has the 3 patent dates on the lateral adj. lever. The rosewood tote and knob show their original patina. I have flattened the sole and it is flat. The tote has a nicely repaired crack and is barely noticable. There is no foundry mark on the levey cap as it is probably from the previous model also.
