Up for sale is an outstanding Stanley #4 type 6 hand plane. This one has a smooth bottom and it is flat. It has right hand threads on the brass adj. nut, which also has the Bailey patent info on the inside of it. The Japanning was very spotty on it so I stripped it off and re-Japanned it using Stanley's factory recipe and baked it 5 times to set the Japanning. It has the Q logo iron and I have sharpened it going through the grits up to 8000. The chip breaker has the Bailey info stamped on it also. It has the 3 patent dates on the lateral adj. lever. All the stamping is bold on the different pieces. It has beautiful rosewood tote and knob and they show their original patina and both are crack free. Super nice 135 year old plane. It is tuned and ready to go to work in your shop or to be displayed in your collection.

With over 76 years of life experience and a passion for woodworking, I’ve spent decades collecting, restoring, and working with antique hand tools, mostly hand planes . I'm an Army Vet. (1967-1969) and married with 2 children. I'm also a avid gardener. I have a degree in Forestry from S.I.U. although I only worked in the industry for 6 weeks. I'm retired from the coal mines and also the Post Office. I live in Southern Illinois near Carbondale. I love to hunt and fish. I live on 30 with a 9 acre strip mine lake in front of the house. My work shop includes a Delta Unisaw , a Grizzley 17" band saw and a DeWalt 735 planer. I have many hand planes including a very nice Stanley #2 type 7
