Stanley #4 Smoother with a Type 2 base - Pre-lateral

This Stanley #4 Smoother has a Type 2 base. It has the recessed brass adjuster like a type 4, this could have been changed or it could be from the early type 4 period.

The type 2 was made 1869-1872. The Type 4 was made 1874-1884

Tote has been repaired.

Note the pitting on the base.

Note the chip breaker was stamped on both sides.
