This is a Record No. 148 Doweling Jig, complete, and in immaculate condition except for the original display box, which is somewhat shopworn. It was manufactured in England, probably in the 1950s judging by costs quoted on an included parts order form, which prices parts in pence, each item less than £1 .
This is a precision tool that can be used to assemble a large variety of doweled joints, including four types of Framing joints (Corner joints, Tee joints, Mitre joints and Leg joints), four types of carcase joints, (corner joints shelving joints, Mitre joints, Dowel holes for adjustable shelves) and Board jointing (End to End, Edge to Edge and End Clamping). Read the complete instructions in the attached images for more details.
I inherited this tool from my lte father in law, who I think used it for one project and then put it in storage. The finish on the pieces is absolutely pristine, except for one small scratch on the C-clamp. There is no rust anywhere on the pieces, and no evidence of prior rust.
This would be a great too to use, for example, if you were building large carcases for a kitchen storage system, or a dining table with removable leaves, so you could precisely install the alignment dowels and holes.
I ship to US customers only via USPS Ground Advantage Mail, with the customer paying actual shipping cost from ZIP 91106. I normally ship the day or or the day after receiving an order.
