I did a small amount of restoration on this including sharpening the blade to useable sharpness, leveling off the plane bottom where it was uneven, and waxing the whole thing with museum grade wax to protect it. It does work, I have used it. It appears to be handmade. The biggest drawback is that the wings of the wing nut are too wide so if you don’t position it properly the wing could gouge your workpiece. This is how the plane came to me and I haven’t adjusted it, but a couple minutes with a grinder or metal file to reduce the wing size would solve the problem. The wood appears to be oak and is free of checks. There’s no maker’s mark anywhere I can find. It’s useable and rock solid, just too chunky for my needs. Blade width is just under 5/8”. Maximum cut depth is about 2.5”.
