Japanese Hand Plane. 9" body Iron is 44mm wide at cutting edge and 52mm at widest point. Google translate says: On Sticker Highest Grade, Chi Gosai, Quality Assurance
Sharpie marks: Coriander, Select Yuichi, Kana or if I turn the body sideways : Coriander, Naichi, Zhi Gangz Hai.
Google won't recognize the caricatures on the iron so no idea there.
See photos, the mouth has small crack behind the iron, will not affect the use. I bought this used with a bunch of other Japanese woodworking tools on eBay a few years ago, got screwed on shipping from Texas, got charged shipping for each item rather then just the box full, part of the tools where not what was in the listing and where junk and eBay basically told me to F off... I hate eBay!
Anyway, I have played around with this plane, mostly for scrub work since I suck at hammer setting planes. I do not like using a Japanese plane, just don't like there is no handles and the pulling is difficult to me, maybe it's the arthritis. Anyway, I forgot I had this and found it in a box the other day, I think someone else needs this.
By the way, I do like Japanese Saws, I can cut a better straight line with them, but keep bending mine. Good thing they are cheap harbor freight ones LOL

Selling since November 2024
Retired Archaeologist now working for city of Lexington Engineering Dept. Have been a carpenter and woodworking for some time, just switched over to hand tools several years ago. But now my health has changed, I have no kids and if Gods will, will be retiring and moving to Philippines in the next 5 Years. So I am slowly selling off tools (and other things) that I know I will not be hauling across the world. When the time comes, I may sell off more, but for now all my extras or things I bought to resale need to go....Heck I may just sell it all and not touch a tool again depending on my health in 5 years....
