Having read up a little on this lightly used Japanese scraper plane, it might traditionally be used to flatten the sole of the typically wooden soled Japanese planes. That said, I'm sure that's not the only use this could be put to! The blade is fixed in place via friction with the ways cut into the body of the plane, adjusted via light hammer blows with a metal hammer (genno). One can tell this plane is lightly used by the lack of hammer marks on the tail end of the blade - I've got one used Japanese plane that looks BEAT from the usage it needed to provide in a previous life. This one is pristine in comparison!
If you've seen my other listings, I'm amazed at what these go for new in Amazon and other places. Thankfully for all of us, these tools will last forever when properly taken care of - and this one clearly was!
If you're in Canada - let's talk about how to make the shipping work out. There may be more effective ways.

Boy do I look old with that beard! It's gone now, but I still like the image, so there we are. I'm a woodworker who does a LOT of different things, though my last really big project was an entire kitchen/laundry of cabinets and butcherblock countertops. I have the chance through the day job to go to Japan once or twice a year, and I enjoy being able to bring some of the used tool love from there to here, so folks who watch may notice postings for some of them.
