Up for sale is a Original Stanley No. 13 circular (compass) plane by Stanley Rule & Level Company. Designed for cutting convex and concave curves in cabinet and trim work. Markings: • Body stamped PAT’D JUNE 17, 1879 • Adjustment tab marked Bailey’s Patent March 25, 1867 • “No. 13” cast at rear.Dates place this example in early production, late 1870s to early 1880s. 3 Patent dates on lateral adj. lever Condition: • Adjustable sole mechanism present and functional. • Honest wear from age and use. • Japanning largely worn. • Iron appears to be a later Stanley replacement. • No visible cracks in casting. With over 76 years of life experience and a passion for woodworking, I’ve spent decades collecting, restoring, and working with antique hand tools, mostly hand planes . I'm an Army Vet. (1967-1969) and married with 2 children. I'm also a avid gardener. I have a degree in Forestry from S.I.U. although I only worked in the industry for 6 weeks. I'm retired from the coal mines and also the Post Office. I live in Southern Illinois near Carbondale. I love to hunt and fish. I live on 30 with a 9 acre strip mine lake in front of the house. My work shop includes a Delta Unisaw , a Grizzley 17" band saw and a DeWalt 735 planer. I have many hand planes including a very nice Stanley #2 type 7
