Up for sale is a 2-inch beveled slick chisel, tang style, attributed to Peck, Stow & Wilcox Co.(PS&W). This is a true framing slick, not a modified bench chisel. Correct proportions for timber framing and heavy paring work. circa 1850 to 1890 The maker’s mark is very faint but partially visible, consistent with PS&W tools of this age. Forged surface and blade profile match known PS&W examples. Condition: • Solid blade, no cracks or repairs • Honest age and patina, not over-cleaned • Edge needs final sharpening • No handle included A good user slick or early American tool collection piece. With over 76 years of life experience and a passion for woodworking, I’ve spent decades collecting, restoring, and working with antique hand tools, mostly hand planes . I'm an Army Vet. (1967-1969) and married with 2 children. I'm also a avid gardener. I have a degree in Forestry from S.I.U. although I only worked in the industry for 6 weeks. I'm retired from the coal mines and also the Post Office. I live in Southern Illinois near Carbondale. I love to hunt and fish. I live on 30 with a 9 acre strip mine lake in front of the house. My work shop includes a Delta Unisaw , a Grizzley 17" band saw and a DeWalt 735 planer. I have many hand planes including a very nice Stanley #2 type 7
