William E. Coutts founded the William E. Coutts Company Ltd. which printed greeting cards in 1916. In 1958 the company was purchased by Hallmark and until the 1990’s the Canadian branch was known as Coutts Hallmark.
After approx a year of being open Coutts Hallmark in 1959, a dapper young man named Rae moved to Toronto, and was able to secure a job at the printing machines and started to learn the printing trade. At some point, there was a pretty young girl named Sydney who had started her part time job there walking across and she caught his eye! He offered to walk her home and the rest as you say, is history. Specifically, my parent's history as they met at Coutt's Hallmark in 1959 and went on to have 4 lovely children.
