Details
Vinyl plays with some crackles and a few light-clicks (play-graded). Cover has a few creases near edges; scuffing, discoloration (front/back); name written on front near top-center on front. Inner-sleeve is original (generic white). Spine is mostly readable with wear. Minor shelf-wear along top/bottom-edge and corners. Opening shows signs of use and divots. (Not a cut-out.)
American Excess, by Point Blank, represents the Texas southern rock band's ambitious pivot to a more polished, arena-ready hard rock sound, incorporating glossy production and melodic hooks to appeal to the burgeoning AOR radio format. Produced by Bill Ham, known for his work with ZZ Top, the album was recorded in Los Angeles with a larger budget, resulting in a sleeker aesthetic featuring prominent guitars, keyboards, and vocal harmonies while preserving the group's gritty edge. An interesting fact is the album's stylized title as American Exce$$, reflecting a thematic critique of materialism through its dollar-sign punctuation. Fan favorites include the energetic opener Let Me Stay With You Tonight, the heartfelt The Way You Broke My Heart, the driving Restless, alongside the catchy Nicole. The album spawned the hit single Nicole, which reached No. 20 on the Billboard Mainstream Rock chart and No. 39 on the Hot 100, marking Point Blank's biggest commercial success.
