Details
Vinyl plays with some crackles and a few light-clicks (play-graded). Cover looks great, a few creases near edges; light scuffing and surface impressions (front/back). Inner-sleeve is original (generic white); two seams partially split and sleeve very wrinkled. Spine is mostly readable with wear. Minor shelf-wear along top/bottom-edge. Some wear to corners. Opening is crisp with signs of light use and divots. Red label with "Columbia" around edges. (Not a cut-out.)
Friends in Love, by Johnny Mathis, made its first appearance on Billboard magazine's Top LP's & Tapes chart in the issue dated May 8, 1982, and remained there for nine weeks, peaking at No. 147. It also made it to No. 34 during a seven-week run on the UK album chart that began the following week, on May 15. The title track from the album entered the Billboard Hot 100 in the issue dated April 17, 1982, and eventually got as high as No. 38 over the course of 13 weeks. That same issue included its debut on the magazine's list of the 100 most popular R&B songs in the US, where it also spent 13 weeks but reached No. 22. The next issue, dated April 24, marked its first appearance on the Adult Contemporary chart, and during its 17-week run there it rose to No. 5. When the Lovin' Goes Out of the Lovin' was also released as a single.
