This is a beautiful example of the Belle Epoque era jewelry. The Belle Époque period lasted from 1871 to 1914, the end of the Franco-Prussian war to the beginning of WWI. It is also known as the Edwardian era and the Gilded age. This period was known for luxury and excess.
I took it to my jeweler to have 7 of the seed pearls replaced and verify authenticity. At first I thought the 6 garnets might be rubies, but the jeweler said reddish pink color is natural, not like modern garnets.
The brooch / pendant measures about 2.125” x 1.5” and weighs 10 grams. It does need a little cleaning as my jeweler does not clean antiques. Comes with my jewelers logo bag and gift box.
The starting bid is about $200 more than current scrap weight. I will not sell lower as to insure it will not be destroyed for scrap.
Free shipping includes USPS Priority, required signature, and appropriate insurance. District holds your payment for about 10 days, which will give you time to take it to your favorite jeweler or pawn shop for verification.
