Details

1972 Bjorn Wiinblad Christmas wall plate with built in wall hanger. Weihnachtsteller, Rosenthal porcelain Studio-Linie, made in Germany.

This is Caspar, hand-decorated and one of a series of Christmas plates by Rosenthal. Features Caspar (one of the wise men) traditionally presenting gold to baby Jesus. Lots of gold trim on this series which doesn’t always show well in the photos, it depends on how the light hits it. This plate is decorated with brilliant colors & gold on deep cobalt blue/navy background, it is signed and dated on the front. This plate. It is fine porcelain and incredibly light.

Designer: Designed by the Danish designer Bjorn Wiinblad (1918 – 2006) for Rosenthal. Bjorn Wiinblad was an internationally known artist and designer who established his own studio in the 1950s. He started in print and moved into ceramics. He collaborated extensively with Rosenthal, a quality German porcelain manufacturer. His style has been described as everything from whimsical to mid century modern. I think it is a combination of both.

Size: approximately 11 3/8” in diameter.

Condition: Excellent condition. There are some light scratches in the center area of the plate from stack wear which are barely noticeable, see photos. Shipping: I have switched all my listings to USPS ground advantage insured to save you $$, if you need priority/express please message me.

Hi, I'm Cynthia. I am a shop owner with 10+ years of experience. I do everything within my power, including packing with great care and shipping fully insured, to get your "thing of beauty" to you safely. I shop the fine estate sales and auctions in the horse country of north Georgia, nestled in the foothills of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, and bring them to you, the beholder.

I was raised in a home where bone china, silver and fine crystal were both used and appreciated. This translated into a love of antiques and handmade items of similar quality. I love the journey that leads me to these beautiful things and I hope you will enjoy my "finds" as much as I have enjoyed finding them.

Please feel free to reach out to me via text or email with any questions you may have. I am frequently hiking on the weekends so your best chance of a speedy response will be during weekday business hours.

Follow me on FB and Instagram where I share additional information on the creation/history of my items.

Helping you find your thing of beauty, Cynthia
