For sale is a vintage Stanley No. 55 Combination Plane, likely an early Type 5 (circa 1897–1902). The plane is in great vintage condition with normal wear, patina, and light surface oxidation. No major damage noted. Nickel plating looks to be all there, no flaking. Great original patina. Great wood no cracks. Super nice. Included: • Main body (No. 55 marked) • Fence assembly • Beading stop • Depth stop • Long and short rods • 4 cuttersThis is a mostly complete user or collector example, though not a full set. Please review photos for exact contents and condition. A versatile plane capable of cutting a wide range of profiles including dados, rabbets, and moldings. With over 76 years of life experience and a passion for woodworking, I’ve spent decades collecting, restoring, and working with antique hand tools, mostly hand planes . I'm an Army Vet. (1967-1969) and married with 2 children. I'm also a avid gardener. I have a degree in Forestry from S.I.U. although I only worked in the industry for 6 weeks. I'm retired from the coal mines and also the Post Office. I live in Southern Illinois near Carbondale. I love to hunt and fish. I live on 30 with a 9 acre strip mine lake in front of the house. My work shop includes a Delta Unisaw , a Grizzley 17" band saw and a DeWalt 735 planer. I have many hand planes including a very nice Stanley #2 type 7
