Up for sale is a super nice Stanley #5 type 11 hand plane. This one has a smooth bottom and it is flat. I Believe this is a fairly early model as it has the T logo iron, the low front knob and the barrel nut on the bolts. I usually will strip these old planes of their Japanning and re-Japan them, but this one has about 98 to 99% Japanning left on it so I didn't touch it, missing just a bit on the heel and toe. I have sharpened the iron going through the grits up to 8000. Looking at the plane I don't think it has seen much use. The iron is almost full length and in great shape with a strong logo. Most of the Japanning is still there and the sole doesn't show much wear. The rosewood tote and knob show there original patina. The tote does have a nicely repair crack and the knob is crack free and looks great. These old planes don't come much nicer.
