Details

Up for sale is a nice Stanley #4 type 11 hand plane. This one has a smooth sole and I have lap it flat. I say early type 11 because the plane has the T logo iron, the low front knob and the barrel nuts on the bolts. The Japanning was very spotty on it so I stripped it off and re-Japanned it using Stanley's factory recipe and baked it 5 times on low heat to set the Japanning. I have also sharpened the iron going through the grits up to 8000. The tote and knob are in great shape. The tote has a repair to the left side to a chipped out area, but is not cracked and it is solid. The knob has a couple hair line cracks that don't go all the way up and it is solid also.
