That’s the best outcome, you should be proud of that.

I’ve been in contact with the seller and she has been very receptive and feels horrible and she’s doing the right thing by making sure it goes to the right person. She thanked me for educating her and she wants to get involved in more conservation efforts! I feel good about how it went.

The only thing about paying her to rescue it is that creates incentive to poach more so people “rescue” them. I would’ve asked if she was maybe willing to donate it herself after learning it was poached. If she wasn’t then possibly offering to rescue it.
