This vintage Pennsylvania redware mini jug is hand‑formed in the classic small moonshine style and decorated in pale yellow slip with green and brown folk‑art accents. The front features a charming, naïve house scene with trees and floral elements, echoing the early Pennsylvania Dutch redware tradition. The jug stands 4.5 inches tall and measures 2.75 inches at its widest, giving it a compact, sculptural presence.
The glaze shows the natural variation typical of handmade redware, including a few larger glaze‑skip areas near the top where the glossy overglaze did not fully catch during firing, along with light, age‑appropriate crazing. These are normal characteristics of studio folk pottery and part of its authentic charm. The base is fully glazed and bears the signature “Henry,” indicating an independent potter working in the mid‑century Pennsylvania folk revival style. There is also a small remnant of an old paper shop sticker on the underside—an off‑white label with a red border—consistent with mid‑20th‑century craft and gift‑shop sales.
Very good vintage condition. No chips or cracks. Bottom is fully glazed. SEE PHOTOS.
A lovely addition for collectors of Pennsylvania redware, folk art pottery, or slip‑decorated mini jugs.

With a background as an artist and a love for rescuing homeless items I find great satisfaction in re-homing beautiful things. My hobby is hunting down these items from estates, moving sales, thrift shops and the like and my job is getting them to you. All items are cleaned, inspected and tested (if warranted) then carefully packed for shipment to their new home.
