Vtg Pair Dancing Ganesha Wall/Desk Plaques Elephant Hindu God Hand Painted Rare

$19.99

Details

These plaques feature a dancing Ganesha. Based on research, a Ganesha is an elephant headed Hindu God of beginnings. It is traditionally worshiped before any major enterprise, and is the patron of intellectuals, bankers, scribes, and authors. I believe these plaques were made in India. I cannot find a listing or sale of the smaller one, and can only find one active listing for the taller one, which makes these items rare to find. They are hand-painted on terra-cotta clay and are signed SC on the back. The larger one measures 5”x 4.25”x 3/8“ and the other measures 4”x 3.25”x .25”. They are in great condition. There are no cracks, breaks or repairs. There is some paint wear, and a few small chips.
