Wow! I grew up in the Redwoods and this box immediately caught my attention. This is a masterpiece from Michael Elkan 1942-2014 and his Dovetail Works, hand crafted & signed redwood burl jewelry or trinket box, hinged. The box is rectangle in shape and measures approximately 10 inches long, 5.5 inches wide and 2.5 inches deep including the lid. There is carving on the lid, almost like a heart beat and the inside is carved out in a similar fashion making two separate storage compartments. There are a few surface scratches that I would have normally touched up but I didn't want to touch this beauty. As with natural wood and burl especially, there are some little lines that look like cracks but are part of the grain. It was really hard to capture the beauty of this wood so I took one photo outside. Please inspect all photos.
