Details
A sweet countryside village scene decorates the interior of this Victory Salem China serving bowl. The image showcases a colorful country lane with country cottages and gardens and a stream running through. The 9' diameter bowl has a unique MCM genuine palladium gold alloy design around a textured rim.
I don’t think you can find a more perfect match for a cottagecore or grandmacore décor style than the design in this piece! Use on your table for serving, or as a catchall, or just display it on a stack of books, a coffee table or a shelf.
Very Good vintage condition. No chips, cracks, scratches, or wear to the design. There is a manufacturing flaw in the interior glaze, see photo. There is a small discolored area on the rim of the dish where it was most likely bumped.

HISTORY: William Smith, John and Patrick McNichol, and Dan Cronin, formerly employed by Standard Pottery in East Liverpool, Ohio, founded the Salem China Company in 1898. Initially, the company made heavy hotel ware.
Due to financial problems, the company was sold to F. A. Sebring in 1918. Under the management of Frank McKee, who served as general manager from 1918 to 1950, and Sebring’s son Frank, Jr., the company became very successful through the sale of dinnerware.
Viktor Schenckkengost created many of Salem’s shapes and designs during the 1930s and 1940s. Hand painting was done primarily by women. A continuous decorating kiln was installed in 1937. At its peak, Salem employed 500 workers.
In the 1930s, Salem China supplemented its retail outlet sales through bank, drugstore, movie and supermarket promotions. Sears, Roebuck was one of its best customers.
