Details

Great gift for a laquerware collector. USSR vintage hand painted lacquer trinket or jewelry box. Beautifully painted and written in Cyrillic across the bottom, on the left reads "Troika" which is the name of the type of sleigh. The center reads Kholui, the name of the town it was painted in (this town is known for it's painting industry.) On the right is Petrov, the surname of the artist. The scene is of a team of horses pulling a Russian sleigh with a mansion and log homes in the background. Nice detail on this piece and I want to point out there is gold metallic highlighting in the painting of the family & the horses that doesn't show well in the photos, this is something the Kholui painters are known for. There is also a fine band of scrollwork around the sides of the box. Red lacquer interior.

Approx size is 6" l x 4.25" w x 1.75" h

Condition*: Excellent, there are two tiny paint chips on the bottom edge of the lid, see photos.

A Thing of Beauty Vintage Finds

    Selling since November 2023

Hi, I'm Cynthia. I am a shop owner with 10+ years of experience. I do everything within my power, including packing with great care and shipping fully insured, to get your "thing of beauty" to you safely. I shop the fine estate sales and auctions in the horse country of north Georgia, nestled in the foothills of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains, and bring them to you, the beholder.

I was raised in a home where bone china, silver and fine crystal were both used and appreciated. This translated into a love of antiques and handmade items of similar quality. I love the journey that leads me to these beautiful things and I hope you will enjoy my "finds" as much as I have enjoyed finding them.

Please feel free to reach out to me via text or email with any questions you may have. I am frequently hiking on the weekends so your best chance of a speedy response will be during weekday business hours.

Follow me on FB and Instagram where I share additional information on the creation/history of my items.

Helping you find your thing of beauty, Cynthia
