Details
This vintage dragon brooch with the JOY mark relates to Lester Joy, the creative designer and one of the founders of Les Bernard jewelry. Most signed Joy pieces were made in the 1950s and early 1960s, just before the appearance of Les Bernard in 1963. The center looks to be resin with a confetti background that looks like stained glass or dragon skin. The bezel is scalloped and the resin cabochon is faceted along the edge. The main surround is well made with two dragons or sea serpents winding around the oval. A beautiful piece, in nice used condition with minimal wear and tarnish. There is a slight bend to the pin (see pictures). Measurements ~ 2.25 x 2-3/8"
