A cute black-capped chickadee in the snow with two red winterberries are featured on this adorable painted enamel on copper art plate. The background is a snowy winter white and cream with a teal green.

Excellent vintage condition. No chips, cracks, scratches, discoloration, or repairs noted. The plate is missing one of 4 cork pads on the back, this is easily replaced if desired.

HISTORY: Norman Brumm (1938-2008) developed an interest in art early in life. His first studio was in Norwood Township on Lake Michigan, opened following his graduation from Holland High School and Michigan State University, where he earned a Master’s of Art degree. Brumm also taught art at Fremont Public Schools.

Although formally trained in oil painting, Brumm produced exceptional watercolors and pen and ink drawings. In 1966 he began experimenting with enamel on metal. The opportunity to depict in sculpture the things in nature he loved drew him deeper into the process of enameling, and soon his artwork became sought after.

Highlights of Brumm’s career include: His wall hanging of Apple Blossoms was presented to President Gerald R. Ford in the White House, and his Pine sculpture was gifted to the Empress of Japan.
