Details
Brass stamp boxes were made around the mid-18th century when Birmingham was a center for metalworking. In those days, aged brass was smoother and meticulously cleaned. After the 19th century, antique brass started to get rougher. Stamp boxes made of brass have been available since the mid-1840s and continued production until at least 1897.
This piece has wear on top paint but really nice. Hinge and latch work really well.
