No chips or cracks. Has the signature W cane on bottom. Comes with the original box and a description page when L.H. Selman of the Glass Gallery took the weight to sell at the Dunham Tavern Museum Show in Cleveland, Ohio 5/11/81. L.H. Selman owned the Glass Gallery and bought and sold art glass and paperweights for 50 years! His gallery moved to Chicago in 2009 but between 1969 and 2009 they were just down the road from me in Santa Cruz, CA! Larry Selman published books about paperweights and organized paperweight and glass conventions! He’s as well known in the art glass community as the artists who create them. Francis Dyer Whittemore, Jr. (1921–2020) was a pioneering American master glassblower renowned for his intricate lampwork paperweights and fine-scale miniature glassware. A key figure in the 1960s paperweight renaissance, he created highly detailed, hand-blown pieces using lead glass, often featuring botanical motifs. His work is featured in major institutions like the Smithsonian Institution and Corning Museum of Glass.
