Vintage 1920s JOHN W. LADD CO. 1 Liquid Quart, Sealed 14 milk bottle with embossed lettering from their location in Detroit, Michigan. Bottle somewhat rare at this size. The company began in 1901 under the name Ladd Bros. and in 1909 was incorporated as John W. Ladd Company. They were involved in all areas of the dairy and creamery business and originally based in Saginaw, Michigan until 1915, when it moved to Detroit. John W. Ladd Company was one of seven companies to merge into the Cherry-Burrell Corporation in 1928. Bottle was manufactured by Thatcher Manufacturing Company as noted along bottom edge of the bottle “T.M.C.-S”. Nice old bottle for the collection, but with some wear from age and use. Good overall condition with no chips or cracks to the clear glass. Air bubbles from old manufacturing. Some cloudiness and light scratches as shown. Measures about 9.5” high and 3.75” diameter at the base. See pics for more details.
