Vase SIGNED Joseph Becker 1997 HANDBLOWN Glass Gold Fleck Swung Dragon Tooth VTG

This vintage vase is a true masterpiece signed by Joseph W. Becker in 1997. The handblown glass is clear/cranberry color combination with gold fleck is made with an abstract pattern that is both modern and timeless. The gold fleck adds a touch of elegance to the piece, making it a perfect addition to any art glass collection.

Joseph Becker does not try to dominate and control his glass sculptures by making flowers, animals, or objects. Instead he allows the glass to showcase its unique beauty (in form, line, light, shadow, and depth of color) through extensive grinding and polishing techniques. His art-pieces have been displayed internationally and across the United States: from the Corning Glass Museum (in Corning, NY) to art festivals in St. Louis, Florida, Missouri, and Wisconsin.

Becker said this about his pieces: “Aesthetics is a primary concern and I have attempted to achieve beauty in a finished art piece byinvestigating form, light, line, shadow and content inherent in glass. The openings through the surfaces of thepieces create a repetition of line and a play with positive and negative space. Color is a concern in that it providesan additional emotional response in the viewer, as well as supports the overall strength of the finished piece. As the Artist I do all the blowing of the free form sculptures, and all of the roughgrinding and polishing to create the form that will be the finished sculpture. Horizontal diamond lapidary wheels are used for the actual cutting of the glass. Anassistant comes in and helps with the final polish on the shapes I have created. I canactually blow any of the pieces in about an hour or less. The grinding and polishingis the time consuming part of my work and can take up to thirty to forty hours perpiece.”
