Pair of CARLO GIANINI ITALY designed and manufactured espresso cups with saucers. Often called “Star Trek” cups, they appeared in several episodes of STAR TREK: VOYAGEUR in the 1990s in Quark’s Qantina.
Art Deco in design, they were manufactured in the late 1970s early 1980s but he Carlo GIANINI sPa factory in Brescia, north central Italy (between Venice and Milan.) Set up as a spin off of the aluminum/metal factory by the same name, this sPa company specialized in fabricating metal houseware products, becoming a benchmark standard for Italian quality and design.
Made of heavy rubber like plastic, with aluminum insert in cups and trim on saucer, they are no longer being manufactured, and the company was assimilated by ILLA IT in 2023. Some age related signs of use, no visible damage. Very sturdy. Ships from smoke free pet free home. See photos, the set is 4 pieces total.
