Up for sale is a super nice Stanley #6 type 9 hand plane. I had originally listed this plane as a type 10. I have been informed it is a type 9. The difference is the plane has the high arch seen on a type 10 , but has no frog adj. screw as seen on a type 9. On the high numbered planes(5 1/2-8)this is the way they will appear on the type 9's. The tote and knob show their beautiful rosewood patina and barely have a mark on them and are in perfect shape. The blade has a sharp Q logo on it and the blade is just over 7 1/2" long . The soIe is also almost mark free and in great shape for a 115 year old plane. don't think the plane has seen a lot of use, judging from the blade lenght and tote and knob. Also the round part of the yolk where is fits on the brass adj. nut shows little ware as you would see on a plane that has been used a lot. The Japanning on the bed was pretty spotty so I stripped it down and re-Japanned it using Stanley's original recipe and baking it 5 times. message me with any questionsThe tote and knob show their beautiful rosewood patina and are in perfect shape.
