Details
Gorgeous set of 6 vintage Kyoto Satsuma teacups and saucers, decorated with immortals against a brick red background. The bottom interior is raised so that when you lift it to the light, an image of a geisha appears. These lithopane teacups were made in Japan from the 1930s-1960s era, primarily for the export market.
CONDITION: VERY GOOD (Poor-->Fair-->Good-->Very Good-->Excellent-->Mint): No chips or cracks. One of the cups has what appears to be a spot of paint or other raised substance on the interior - I did not try to remove for fear of damage. Some paint imperfections and wear to the gold trim around the rims of both cups and saucers.
MARKINGS: Japanese mark on bottom
MEASUREMENTS: Saucers are 5.5" in diameter. Teacups are 3.75" in diameter and 2" tall
WEIGHT (w/o packaging): 2 lb 5 oz
