This is a ONE-OF-A-KIND, amazing paperweight by MURANO MAESTRO, Alessandro Moretti!!! It IS signed 'A Moretti', which is exactly how he signed his pieces, and was verified via my book, 'The Signature Detective'. I also verified via other weights with his sig. It measures 2.75" high and 2.2" dia. In great cond. About the Artist~ Background: Alessandro Moretti (1924-1998) was born into a renowned glassmaking family in Murano, Italy, and trained as a master artisan there. He and his brother Roberto emigrated to the United States in the mid-1950s, bringing their traditional Murano techniques to American glass production. Work in the US: He worked for the Pilgrim Glass company in Huntington, West Virginia, but also created many unique, signed pieces independently. Legacy: Moretti's work is recognized and held in the collections of several museums, including The Corning Museum of Glass and the Smithsonian Institution.
