Gorgeous unique chess set by Nigri Italy made in the 1990s, a great gift for the chess lover in your life. They are known for their themed battle chess sets. This is a lovely compact set with built in storage, the board is the lid of the storage box so it is always handy. This set features hand painted chess pieces from the Barbarossa set. Barbarossa was a medieval pope and King of Germany in the 1100s. This pattern is hard to find one, especially complete and in such excellent condition. The board is wrapped and heavy duty with a felt type material on the back to prevent scratching, the storage box also has felt on it. The box is embossed all the way around and the pieces have great detail.
Condition*: Excellent to mint. I am not seeing any wear on the pieces or the box. No scratches on the board. I think it was always stored in its original cardboard box and this protected it.
Size: The board/box is approx 10.75" w & the king piece is 2.25" h

Hi, I'm Cynthia. I am a shop owner on multiple platforms with 20+ years of experience. I do everything within my power, including packing with great care and shipping fully insured, to get your "thing of beauty" to you safely. I have recently moved to the mountains of eastern Tennessee where I find my treasures and offer them to you, the beholder. I hope you will find your "thing of beauty" here.
I was raised in a home where bone china, silver and fine crystal were both used and appreciated. This translated into a love of antiques and handmade items of similar quality. I love the journey that leads me to these beautiful things and I hope you will enjoy my "finds" as much as I have enjoyed finding them.
Please feel free to reach out to me via text or email with any questions you may have. I am frequently hiking on the weekends so your best chance of a speedy response will be during weekday business hours.
Follow me on FB and Instagram where I share additional information on the creation/history of my items.
Helping you find your thing of beauty, Cynthia
