Rare Antique Aynsley1856 Red/Purple/Gold Lily Demitasse Cup & Saucer Gold Bottom

A very rare early Aynsley's demitasse cup and saucer circa 1870. Oriental inspired, the set features Purple Floral and heavy gilt leaves and accents against a deep red back ground. Gilded handle and rims with gilts accents on the decoration and a gilt stripe on the cups interior.

The cup is 2 and 3/16" tall and 2 and 1/8" diameter at the rim. The saucer is 4 and 7/16" in diameter and 11/16" deep. Both are marked with Aynsley's first stamp. The cup is unique in that the Aynsley's stamp is against a gold background. The saucer's stamp is against a white background.

Both pieces are in remarkable condition with wear commensurate with the age of this antique demitasse cup and saucer, including a few tiny scratches and a bit of wear on the gilt on the edge of the saucer.

This rare Antique and highly sought after set is a perfect complement to any collection.
